Keratin 8 pseudogene 33 (KRT8P33) is a pseudogene in the human genome associated with the KRT8 gene, which itself encodes the cytoskeletal protein keratin 8. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; they typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and are often unexpressed or encode nonfunctional RNA or protein products.
