Target intelligence / Profile preview
Keratin 8 pseudogene 34 (KRT8P34) is a member of the human keratin pseudogene family, related by sequence to the protein-coding keratin 8 (KRT8) gene. Pseudogenes such as KRT8P34 are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they do not encode active proteins and are considered evolutionary remnants[6][3]. Like other processed pseudogenes for keratins, KRT8P34 is dispersed in the human genome and does not possess an intact reading frame, and consequently, it is assumed to have no protein-coding or direct biological function[6][3].\n\nThere is no evidence that KRT8P34 serves as a receptor, enzyme, or any other type of druggable protein, nor does it have known clinical relevance as a biomarker or drug target. Its primary relevance is in genomic annotation and evolutionary genomics.
