Target intelligence / Profile preview
Keratin 8 pseudogene 37 (KRT8P37) is a human pseudogene, designated in genomic databases such as NCBI Gene (Gene ID: 100287325) and Ensembl (ENSG00000213771)[2][4]. This pseudogene does not code for a functional protein. It is evolutionarily derived from the Keratin 8 gene (KRT8), which itself is a protein-coding gene crucial for intermediate filament formation in epithelial cells. Like many other keratin pseudogenes scattered throughout the genome, KRT8P37 is classified as a processed pseudogene (i.e., lacks introns typical of its protein-coding ancestor) and is considered non-functional, with no evidence of an intact open reading frame or protein expression[3][8][2][4]. It is not regarded as a therapeutic target, nor is it known to have a role as a biomarker, drug target, or in any disease process. No alternative names beyond the official nomenclature are used in the literature for KRT8P37.
