Keratin 90 pseudogene (KRT90P) is a non-functional gene locus classified as an unprocessed pseudogene, located on human chromosome 12 (12q13.13). It shares sequence similarity with keratin genes but does not encode a functional protein. It is sometimes listed with the alias HBA, which can cause confusion with other genes; HBA more commonly refers to "hemoglobin subunit alpha," but in this context, it is an alternative symbol for KRT90P. This locus is not considered a therapeutic target, does not have a biological function, and is not associated with disease or drug interaction. Key note: There is a potential for misidentification since HBA is a well-established symbol for "hemoglobin subunit alpha," which is an entirely different and functionally significant protein. KRT90P is not a drug target and should not be confused with targets of clinical or pharmacological interest.
