Keratin-associated protein 10-10 (KRTAP10-10)

Keratin-associated protein 10-10 is a cysteine-rich protein that contributes to the structural rigidity and durability of hair fibers by forming a matrix around keratin intermediate filaments in the hair cortex. This matrix provides strength via extensive disulfide bond cross-linking with hair keratins. KRTAP10-10 is part of the high-sulfur keratin-associated protein family, located on chromosome 21, and is not targeted by drugs nor associated with known pathologies. Its main biological role is to participate in hair fiber formation and organization, and it has not been characterized as a therapeutic target
