Overview

Keratin associated protein 19-10, pseudogene (KRTAP19-10P), also known as KAP19B, belongs to the keratin-associated protein gene family, which comprises genes involved in hair fiber structure[10]. As a pseudogene, KRTAP19-10P contains genetic sequence features of keratin-associated proteins but does not produce a functional protein or participate in biological processes—it is disrupted by mutations or deletions that render it non-coding[2][3][11]. It is not considered a therapeutic target, is not known to have disease associations, and does not serve any recognized function, biomarker, or drug interaction role in clinical or research contexts. This entry refers specifically to a pseudogene, and should not be confused with functional keratin-associated protein family members that are involved in hair development and structural biology[5][10].
