Target intelligence / Profile preview
KRTAP19-11P encodes a pseudogene in the keratin-associated protein (KAP) family, which comprises proteins that participate in the formation of the interfilamentous matrix in hair fibers. These proteins normally cross-link with keratin to contribute to hair rigidity and resilience. However, as KRTAP19-11P is annotated as a pseudogene, it is believed to be non-functional (does not encode an active protein) and does not participate in known cellular, signaling, or disease pathways[5][4]. Pseudogenes do not have a role as drug targets, disease biomarkers, or therapeutic proteins.
