Keratin-associated protein 28-6 (KRTAP28-6)

Target
KRTAP28-6
Molecular classification
Keratin-associated protein, KAP family
01

Overview

Keratin-associated protein 28-6 (KRTAP28-6, also referred to as small cysteine and glycine repeat-containing protein 6, SCYGR6) is a member of the keratin-associated protein family. KAPs are structural proteins that cross-link with keratin intermediate filaments via disulfide bonds, helping to form the structure and mechanical properties of hair and wool fibers. The KAP family is large and diverse, with numerous members involved in the matrix of hair and wool; these proteins exhibit considerable sequence variation and polymorphism. There is no direct evidence for KRTAP28-6 as a therapeutic or pharmacological target, nor is there significant association with human diseases beyond its structural role in hair and wool[4].
