Overview

Keratin-associated protein 3-3 (KRTAP3-3) is a member of the keratin-associated protein family, specifically the high-sulfur KAP subfamily, found in humans. These proteins form a matrix with keratin intermediate filaments, providing strength, rigidity, and resilience to the hair shaft through extensive disulfide bonding. The correct function and expression of KRTAP3-3 are critical for the formation and physical properties of hair fibers, but it is not known as a therapeutic target, disease biomarker, or drug target[4].
