Overview

Keratin-associated protein 5-10 is a member of the keratin-associated protein family, mainly found in the structure of human hair and nails[3]. These proteins are rich in sulfur-containing amino acids and help form the matrix that cross-links keratin intermediate filaments, contributing to the physical resilience and texture of hair fibers[3]. While other keratin-associated proteins have been linked to structural hair disorders, there is currently no evidence that KRTAP5-10 serves as a therapeutic target, nor is it known to interact with drugs used in clinical practice. The main biological role is in physical hair assembly, and it is not implicated as a marker or target in systemic diseases, cancer, or other major pathologies[3].
