Keratin-associated protein 5-11 (KRTAP5-11)

Keratin-associated protein 5-11 (KRTAP5-11) is a member of the keratin-associated protein family, which forms an interfilamentous matrix in the hair cortex. These proteins are characterized by extensive disulfide bond crosslinking with hair keratins, contributing to the rigidity and resistance of the hair shaft through high cysteine and glycine-tyrosine content. KRTAP5-11 is a protein coding gene predicted to be located in the cytosol and is involved in hair keratin intermediate filament organization, but no evidence supports its role as a therapeutic target or drug receptor[2].
