Overview

Keratinocyte cohesion refers to the ability of keratinocytes to adhere tightly to one another and maintain the structural integrity of the skin. This process is essential for forming a functional epidermal barrier and is mediated by specialized cell-cell junctions, primarily desmosomes and adherens junctions. Disruption of this cohesion can lead to blistering diseases and impaired wound healing.
