Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are a family of cell signaling proteins that play essential roles in numerous biological processes, including cell proliferation, survival, migration, differentiation, angiogenesis, wound healing, embryonic development, and tissue regeneration. They act by binding to fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs), transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptors, activating intracellular signaling pathways.
FGFs bind to FGFRs (tyrosine kinase receptors), activating downstream signaling pathways such as RAS/MAPK, PI3K/AKT, PLCγ, and STAT, leading to diverse cellular responses.
