Keratoconus gene 6 (KC6) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene discovered due to its enriched, possibly specific, expression in the cornea, particularly in the context of keratoconus, a degenerative corneal disease. Located on chromosome 18p12.3, adjacent to PIK3C3, KC6 does not encode a protein. Its biological function is unknown, as only the initial discovery study documented its existence and corneal specificity. No molecular function, pathogenic mechanism, or druggability has been established for KC6. There are no data linking KC6 to recognizable therapeutic drug classes, molecular pathways, or known safety liabilities.
