01

Overview

Keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) is a large, multisubunit, oxygen-carrying metalloprotein found in the hemolymph of the giant keyhole limpet (*Megathura crenulata*). It is used as an immunostimulant and carrier protein in biomedical applications, particularly in vaccine development. KLH enhances the immune response to weakly antigenic substances and has been investigated in cancer immunotherapy. Two major isoforms exist: KLH1/KLH-A and KLH2/KLH-B, which differ slightly in their structure and oxygen binding affinity.
