KIAA0087 lncRNA is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) over 200 nucleotides in length, classified as a non-protein-coding RNA, identified as KIAA0087. It acts as a tumor suppressor in several cancers, most notably osteosarcoma, where its decreased expression is associated with poor prognosis and increased malignancy. KIAA0087 suppresses tumor progression through post-transcriptional gene regulation mechanisms, primarily by sponging the microRNA miR-411-3p, thereby upregulating SOCS1 and inhibiting the oncogenic JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway. Its roles include the inhibition of tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and induction of apoptosis. While there are no currently reported drugs directly targeting KIAA0087 lncRNA, its expression level is a potential biomarker, especially for prognosis in osteosarcoma. KIAA0087 is also implicated in other cancers such as endometrial and pancreatic carcinoma, but functional roles in these conditions require further validation[1][4].
