KIAA0232 protein (KIAA0232)

Target
KIAA0232
Molecular classification
Other (nuclear phosphoserine protein; uncharacterized domain protein)
01

Overview

KIAA0232 protein is a large (1395 amino acids; 154.8 kDa), highly phosphorylated nuclear protein encoded by the KIAA0232 gene on chromosome 4p16.1. It features a DUF4603 domain of unknown function and is predicted to bind ATP. Expression is widespread but particularly high in the brain, and the protein is evolutionarily conserved among animals. Experimental data and GWAS suggest possible biological roles in platelet count regulation, megakaryocyte biology, and modulation of beta-cell function and insulin secretion. KIAA0232 interacts experimentally with proteins such as YWHAZ and DYRK1A/B, linking it to cellular signaling pathways, but is not currently considered a validated therapeutic target or druggable receptor/enzyme.
