KIAA1191 antisense RNA 1 (KIAA1191-AS1) is a predicted long noncoding antisense RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the KIAA1191 locus. Antisense lncRNAs, as a class, are known to participate in the regulation of gene expression at multiple levels, often by interacting with the corresponding sense mRNA or influencing chromatin structure, DNA methylation, and mRNA stability. While several antisense lncRNAs play important roles in development, cancer, and epigenetic regulation, there is currently no published, peer-reviewed evidence describing the specific function, mechanism, or disease role of KIAA1191-AS1. It is not a canonical therapeutic target and is not a receptor, enzyme, or protein of known function. Its function and relevance remain to be elucidated. The KIAA1191 gene itself encodes a predicted oxidoreductase possibly involved in neuronal processes, but there is no indication in current databases or literature that the antisense RNA (KIAA1191-AS1) shares or regulates this function. Most of the available literature focuses on the general roles of antisense RNAs/lncRNAs rather than information specific to KIAA1191-AS1. The Genecards database entry for "KIAA1191 Antisense RNA 1" lists it as a potential gene product, but this is uncurated and offers no functional or biological data. In summary, KIAA1191-AS1 is best described as a poorly characterized antisense long noncoding RNA; it is not a validated therapeutic target.
