Overview

Kidney Associated Antigen 1 (KAAG1) is a protein encoded by the KAAG1 gene, found on chromosome 6 in humans. While classified as a long non-coding RNA, the KAAG1 gene produces a protein product. It is highly expressed in the testis and kidney, with lower expression in the bladder and liver. KAAG1 is overexpressed in various tumor types, including melanomas, sarcomas, colorectal carcinomas, and ovarian cancer. Bioinformatic analysis suggests that KAAG1 is a membrane-associated or secreted protein, making it a potential target for antibody-based therapies like antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). It may be involved in cellular processes specific to kidney function and potentially interacts with the MAPK pathway.
