In TCM, the "Kidney" is a functional system that stores "Jing" (essence) and governs growth, reproduction, and water metabolism, which differs significantly from the anatomical kidney defined in Western medicine (StatPearls, 2023). Pharmacological enhancement of this system typically involves complex herbal formulations that exert multi-target effects on the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis and the immune system (Zhang et al., 2019).
