Kidney Yin

Kidney Yin is **not a molecule, receptor, or protein** but rather a conceptual entity from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In TCM theory, Kidney Yin represents the fundamental yin fluid of the body and is considered essential for nourishing and moistening organs and tissues[1][2][4]. It is sometimes called primordial yin, true yin, or true water. The Kidneys are viewed as the root of life processes—storing vital energy (Jing), governing growth and fertility, regulating water metabolism, producing marrow to fill up the brain and spinal cord, dominating bones and hair quality, opening into the ears, controlling urination/reproduction functions[2][4][5]. \nA deficiency in Kidney Yin ("Kidney Yin Deficiency") manifests as symptoms such as lower back pain/weakness in knees/lumbar region; dizziness; tinnitus; night sweats; hot sensations in palms/soles/chest; insomnia; dry mouth/throat; poor memory[1][3][5]. This pattern is especially common with aging or chronic illness.
