KIF1C antisense RNA 1 (KIF1C-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the KIF1C gene locus in humans. Like other antisense RNAs, it is presumed to play a role in the regulation of gene expression, potentially modulating the transcription or translation of its sense partner, the KIF1C gene. However, specific functions, mechanisms, and disease associations for KIF1C-AS1 itself are not well characterized in the current scientific literature. There is no evidence suggesting that KIF1C-AS1 functions as a therapeutic target, nor are there reported drugs or clinical biomarkers related to this RNA. Its biological and regulatory significance remains to be established, and there is insufficient information to associate it directly with any specific disease or therapeutic application at this time.
