KIF26B antisense RNA 1 (KIF26B-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the protein-coding KIF26B gene. It is overexpressed in several cancers, notably laryngeal cancer, where it promotes cell proliferation and migration. Mechanistically, KIF26B-AS1 activates the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathway by recruiting the RNA-binding protein FUS to stabilize TLR4 mRNA, enhancing the pathway's activity. These findings suggest that KIF26B-AS1 acts as an oncogenic lncRNA and may serve as a potential biomarker or therapeutic target for certain cancers, but it is not a conventional therapeutic target like a receptor or enzyme[2][3][6].
