Killer Cell Lectin-like Receptor G1 (KLRG1)

Target
KLRG1
Molecular classification
C-type lectin, Type II transmembrane protein, Receptor
01

Overview

Killer cell lectin-like receptor G1 (KLRG1) is an inhibitory receptor expressed on NK cells, CD8+ T cells, CD4+ T cells, and Tregs. It binds to classical cadherins (E-, N-, R-cadherins) and inhibits immune cell activation through recruitment of SHP-1/SHIP-1 phosphatases via its ITIM domain. KLRG1 is often used as a marker of terminal differentiation or senescence in lymphocytes, and it plays a role in regulating immune responses in chronic infections, cancer, and vaccination.
