Overview

Killer cell lectin-like receptor subfamily F member 1 (KLRF1, also known as NKp80) is a transmembrane activating receptor expressed on nearly all human natural killer (NK) cells[2][6][8][9]. It is part of the C-type lectin-like receptor family and primarily functions in immunosurveillance by recognizing ligands (notably CLEC2B) expressed on myeloid cells, leading to NK cell activation, cytotoxicity, and cytokine secretion[2][8][9]. KLRF1 activation involves SRC and SYK kinases and participates in killing malignant cells as part of the innate immune response[2][8]. NKp80/KLRF1 has associative links in the literature with tumor immunology and hematologic malignancies such as acute myeloid leukemia; however, its direct therapeutic targeting is not yet a clinical reality[2].
