Killer Immunoglobulin-like Receptor 2DL2 (KIR2DL2)

Target
KIR2DL2
Molecular classification
Receptor, Type I transmembrane glycoprotein, Immunoglobulin-like receptor
01

Overview

Killer immunoglobulin-like receptor 2DL2 (KIR2DL2) is an inhibitory receptor expressed on NK cells and some T cells. It recognizes group C1 HLA-C allotypes (e.g., HLA-Cw1, Cw3, Cw7, Cw8), and upon binding, delivers an inhibitory signal to prevent NK cell activation. KIR2DL2 plays a role in maintaining self-tolerance and its engagement can impair CAR-T cell effector function. It is encoded by the KIR2DL2 gene, which exhibits high polymorphism.
