Target intelligence / Profile preview

Kinesin family member 19 (KIF19)

Target
KIF19
Molecular classification
Motor protein, Enzyme (ATPase), Cytoskeletal protein
01

Overview

Kinesin family member 19 (KIF19) is a microtubule-dependent motor protein that uses ATP hydrolysis to drive its movement along microtubules and is involved in regulating cilia length by mediating depolymerization of microtubules at the tips of motile cilia. It contributes to various cellular processes including cell movement and organization. KIF19 has been implicated in cancer metastasis and influences cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Diseases associated with mutations or dysregulation of KIF19 include nonimmune hydrops fetalis and congenital megabladder[1][2][3][7][8].
