KIF20A is a microtubule-based motor protein that plays key roles during mitosis and cytokinesis by facilitating proper chromosome segregation and cell division. It mediates transport of vesicles from the Golgi apparatus and interacts with RAB6A GTPase for vesicle trafficking. It is overexpressed in various cancers, including glioma and melanoma, and is considered a tumor-associated antigen involved in cancer cell growth and survival. KIF20A is explored as an immunotherapy target due to its overexpression on tumor cells but limited expression on normal tissues.
