Overview

KLC4 antisense RNA 1 (KLC4-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense transcript located near, or partially overlapping, the kinesin light chain 4 (KLC4) gene. No data currently demonstrate KLC4-AS1 as a therapeutic target, nor are there published studies documenting its direct molecular function, associated diseases, or drug interactions. Most biological and disease relevance in the literature refers to KLC4, a microtubule-associated force-producing protein in the kinesin family, which is involved in neuronal development, axon branching, intracellular transport, and cancer chemoresistance. It is possible KLC4-AS1 could have regulatory roles impacting the expression of KLC4 or its related pathways, but no definitive experimental data are available as of now. Key limitations and uncertainties: - KLC4-AS1 is often confused with KLC4 (protein-coding gene). - There are no validated studies or databases providing molecular target-level annotation for KLC4-AS1. - Functional, disease, and pharmacological roles are only established for KLC4, not its antisense transcript. Recommendation: If structured information on KLC4 is desired, refer to "Kinesin light chain 4 (KLC4)" instead, which is an established molecular target implicated in cancer and neuronal development.
