KLHL7 divergent transcript (KLHL7-DT, PLATAK, KLHL7-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located at the KLHL7 gene locus on human chromosome 7p15. It is transcribed antisense to the protein-coding KLHL7 gene, which encodes a BTB-Kelch family protein involved in protein ubiquitination and is linked to retinitis pigmentosa. No data currently support a direct biological function, disease association, or therapeutic targeting for KLHL7-DT. Its annotation suggests that it may have a regulatory role via transcriptional interference with the KLHL7 locus, but this remains to be determined by future experimental studies. KLHL7-DT is not the same as the KLHL7 protein or gene (implicated in retinitis pigmentosa). Instead, it is a non-coding transcript (lncRNA) antisense to KLHL7, with limited to no experimental characterization regarding its function or disease relevance.
