KLF4 is an evolutionarily conserved transcription factor characterized by three C2H2-type zinc fingers. It acts both as an activator/repressor depending on context. It regulates key processes like cell cycle arrest/differentiation/self-renewal/apoptosis/stemness. Its dysregulation contributes to various diseases including cancers where it may act either as tumor suppressor or oncogene based on tissue type/contextual cues.
