Target intelligence / Profile preview
KRABD1 antisense RNA 1 (KRABD1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the KRABD1 gene locus and is also known as KRBOX1-AS1, FLJ32776, and KRBOX1 antisense RNA 1 (non-protein coding)[2]. As an antisense RNA, it does not code for protein but instead regulates gene expression through interactions with the mRNA or chromatin architecture of nearby or overlapping genes. Antisense RNAs can modulate their target genes by mechanisms including transcriptional interference, recruitment of chromatin modifiers, or influencing RNA stability and translation[1]. General functions of natural antisense RNAs include both positive and negative regulation of gene expression, with documented roles in epigenetic regulation, chromatin remodeling, and possibly cellular differentiation or disease mechanisms. As of current knowledge, there is no evidence that KRABD1-AS1 is a therapeutic target or directly implicated in major diseases such as cancer, neurodegeneration, or cardiovascular disease; it has no known pharmacological modulators or drugs targeting it[1][2]. The primary significance of KRABD1-AS1 appears to be its potential role in gene regulatory networks as part of the complex repertoire of non-coding RNAs in the human genome.
