KRABD5 pseudogene 1 (KRABD5P1) is a genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a dysfunctional copy of a protein-coding gene, related in sequence to the KRAB domain zinc finger protein family but nonfunctional due to loss of coding capacity[5][11]. Pseudogenes like KRABD5P1 are not transcribed or translated into functional proteins and generally do not participate in the molecular interactions or biological processes characteristic of active therapeutic targets. There is no evidence linking KRABD5P1 to any disease process, drug interactions, or use as a biomarker[5][10][11]. Note: While KRAB domain zinc finger proteins (KRAB-ZFPs) are a large family of transcriptional repressors involved in epigenetic regulation and development[1][2][3], pseudogenes in this family such as KRABD5P1 are nonfunctional and do not share the biological activities of their parent genes[5][11].
