KRT10 antisense RNA 1 (KRT10-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA gene, previously known as TMEM99 or transmembrane protein 99, located on chromosome 17[10][9][1]. This gene is predicted to produce a non-coding RNA that may be associated with membrane localization but does not encode a well-characterized or functional protein product[2][9]. The biological function remains unclear. Diseases associated with KRT10-AS1 include forms of epidermolytic hyperkeratosis and ichthyosis—these links are based on genomic location or transcript correlation but not on established functional causality[2]. There is no evidence to support its identification as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter; its principal annotation is as a long non-coding RNA[2][10]. It has no known interacting drugs, defined mechanisms of action, established biomarker roles, or associated safety concerns.
