Target intelligence / Profile preview
KRT73 antisense RNA 1 (KRT73-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located within the cytogenetic region 12q13.13[4]. This RNA is transcribed antisense to the KRT73 (Keratin 73) coding sequence. While the function of KRT73-AS1 has not been fully elucidated, it is classified as a lncRNA, which generally means it may have roles in regulating gene expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level[2][4]. There are currently very few direct studies linking KRT73-AS1 to specific biological pathways, diseases, or therapeutic processes. Notes: - The KRT73-AS1 gene should not be confused with KRT73, which encodes Keratin 73, a protein involved in hair follicle physiology[1][5]. - KRT73-AS1 appears in the GWAS catalog as an lncRNA, with a few reported associations but nothing that meets criteria for high-confidence disease or therapeutic target status as of the current literature[4]. - The field of lncRNAs is rapidly evolving; more functions or disease roles could be uncovered with future research. KRT73-AS1 is best regarded as a long non-coding RNA of uncertain function, potentially of interest as a biomarker, but with no evidence for direct therapeutic targeting at present[2][4][6].
