Kruppel like factor 2 pseudogene 1 (KLF2P1) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they do not encode functional proteins. KLF2P1 is related in sequence to the functional gene Kruppel like factor 2 (KLF2), a zinc finger transcription factor involved in regulating gene expression, especially in vascular function, but KLF2P1 itself does not produce a functional protein or act as a therapeutic target[3]. There is no evidence in the public biomedical literature that KLF2P1 has independent biological function, disease association, therapeutic relevance, or drug interactions.
