L-lactate dehydrogenase A chain (LDHA)

Target
LDHA
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Oxidoreductase
01

Overview

L-lactate dehydrogenase A chain (LDHA) is a key enzyme in anaerobic glycolysis, catalyzing the reversible conversion of pyruvate to L-lactate. It is essential for energy production in low-oxygen conditions and is highly expressed in muscle tissue and many tumors. LDHA supports tumor development, invasion, and metastasis by enabling metabolic adaptation under hypoxia. Mutations can cause metabolic disorders, and elevated levels are associated with tissue damage and disease states.
