Target intelligence / Profile preview
L-type amino acid transporter 3 (LAT3) is a member of the system L family of Na(+)-independent neutral amino acid transporters. It mediates the facilitated diffusion of large neutral amino acids across cell membranes, including leucine, isoleucine, valine, phenylalanine, and methionine. LAT3 is expressed in various tissues and is often upregulated in cancers, where it contributes to tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. It is considered a therapeutic target for anticancer therapies aiming to starve tumors by blocking nutrient uptake pathways.
