Target intelligence / Profile preview

L-type calcium channel subunit alpha 1C (CaV1.2)

Target
CaV1.2
Molecular classification
Ion channel, Voltage-gated calcium channel, L-type calcium channel
01

Overview

The L-type calcium channel subunit alpha1C (CaV1.2) is the pore-forming subunit of voltage-dependent L-type calcium channels, encoded by the *CACNA1C* gene. It mediates calcium influx upon membrane depolarization and plays a crucial role in cardiac muscle contraction and other excitable tissues. Dysregulation is linked to various cardiac and neuropsychiatric disorders.
