L3MBTL histone methyl-lysine binding protein 2 is a nuclear protein that binds methylated histone residues to regulate chromatin state and gene expression, particularly serving as a transcriptional repressor as part of PcG complexes. It plays key roles in developmental processes and stem cell biology. In disease, mutations or dysregulation of L3MBTL2 are associated with certain central nervous system tumors
For methyl-lysine reader proteins, inhibition would disrupt recognition of methylated lysines on histones, leading to altered gene repression/activation, but mechanisms are not yet established for L3MBTL2 specifically
