La ribonucleoprotein domain family member 4B (LARP4B) is a cytoplasmic RNA-binding protein characterized by a conserved La motif and RNA recognition motifs (RRMs). It plays an important regulatory role in translation and mRNA metabolism, participating in posttranscriptional gene regulation. LARP4B expression is linked to prognosis in several cancers including liver cancer, where high expression indicates poor outcomes. The protein regulates key cell cycle pathways and may act via pathways involving E2F, G2M checkpoint, and mitotic spindle apparatus. LARP4B is considered a promising biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis and is a potential (though not yet clinically validated) therapeutic target.
