Target intelligence / Profile preview
Lactate dehydrogenase A pseudogene 4 (LDHAP4) is one of several pseudogenes related to the *lactate dehydrogenase A* gene (*LDHA*), which encodes the A subunit of the lactate dehydrogenase enzyme. Unlike functional LDHA, LDHAP4 does not encode an active enzyme and is not involved in metabolic processes. Pseudogenes such as LDHAP4 are generally regarded as non-functional genomic DNA sequences resembling known genes but lacking the ability to code for a functional protein due to mutations or truncations. LDHAP4 is not a therapeutic target, has no known biological or disease role, and does not interact with drugs. In contrast, the functional LDHA gene (not the pseudogene) plays a major role in glycolysis and has substantial clinical and pharmacological importance in oncology and other fields[2][3][4][5].
