Lactate dehydrogenase C4 (LDHC)

Target
LDHC
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Cancer-Testis Antigen
01

Overview

Lactate dehydrogenase C4 (LDHC) is a unique isoenzyme of lactate dehydrogenase primarily expressed in mammalian testis and spermatozoa. It plays a critical role in energy metabolism, particularly in sperm function and male fertility, and has recently gained attention as a cancer-testis antigen (CTA) due to its aberrant expression in various cancers. Targeting/inhibiting *LDHC* sensitizes some tumors to DNA damage response therapies; ongoing research explores its value both diagnostically & therapeutically.
