Lactoferrin (LTF)

Target
LTF
Molecular classification
Transferrins, Glycoprotein
01

Overview

Lactoferrin (LF), also known as lactotransferrin (LTF), is a multifunctional glycoprotein belonging to the transferrin family. It binds iron tightly but reversibly, which plays a crucial role in regulating iron absorption. LF exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties and modulates immune responses. It also demonstrates anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities. LF is found in various secretory fluids, including milk, saliva, and tears, as well as in neutrophils.
