Lambda Myeloma Antigen (LMA)

Target
LMA
Molecular classification
Cell surface protein/antigen
01

Overview

Lambda myeloma antigen (LMA) is a cell surface antigen specifically expressed on malignant plasma cells in multiple myeloma, particularly those producing lambda light chains. It is not found on normal B cells or non-malignant plasma cells, making it a highly selective marker and potential therapeutic target for certain subtypes of multiple myeloma.

02

Mechanism of action

Monoclonal antibody binds to LMA, selectively eliminating malignant lambda-expressing plasma cells.

03

Biological functions

Targeting malignant plasma cellsIdentification of lambda-restricted malignant clones
04

Disease associations

Multiple Myeloma
05

Safety considerations

Potential for off-target effects, though less likely than with broader targets like BCMA
06

Interacting drugs

LambdaMab
07

Biomarkers

Presence of LMA on malignant plasma cellsRatio of kappa and lambda light chains
