Laminin subunit beta 2 pseudogene 1 (LAMB2P1) is a non-coding segment of DNA classified as a pseudogene due to its high sequence similarity to the protein-coding laminin subunit beta 2 gene (LAMB2), but it cannot produce a functional protein product[2][5]. Pseudogenes like LAMB2P1 may arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events, and can sometimes be transcribed but do not have a biological role as functional proteins. While some pseudogenes have regulatory functions or may participate in gene expression modulation, there is no evidence that LAMB2P1 acts as such, nor as a molecular drug target[2][5][3].
