Large ribosomal subunit protein uL29 (RPL35) is a protein component of the 60S subunit of the cytoplasmic ribosome in human cells[1][2][4][5]. RPL35 is a member of the L29P family of ribosomal proteins. It functions as a structural constituent facilitating protein synthesis by the ribosome, binding RNA and contributing to the assembly and activity of the ribosomal complex[1][2][5]. The gene encoding RPL35 is located on chromosome 9, with numerous pseudogenes throughout the genome[4]. Mutations in RPL35 have been linked to Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA19)[2]. While critical for ribosomal function and cellular protein translation, it is not considered a typical therapeutic target, such as an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or ion channel[1][2][5]. No drugs are currently known to specifically target RPL35 for therapeutic purposes.
