Overview

Latexin pseudogene (ENSG00000253422) is a genomic sequence in humans classified as a pseudogene related in sequence to the functional latexin gene (LXN)[4]. Pseudogenes do not code for functional proteins and typically arise through gene duplication, retrotransposition, or inactivation mutations in ancestral genes[1][2][7]. Some pseudogenes may be transcribed into noncoding RNAs with possible regulatory functions, but for most—including this particular latexin pseudogene—no such role is established[1][2]. Pseudogenes are generally not considered therapeutic targets or relevant in pharmacological research. Note: - If you intended to refer to the functional LXN gene (latexin), information related to a true molecular target (carboxypeptidase inhibitor, sometimes considered in cancer or neural biology) would be appropriate.[4] - "Latexin pseudogene" refers only to a nonfunctional genetic element and not to a druggable protein or receptor.
