Lectin-like oxidized LDL receptor-1 (LOX-1)

Target
LOX-1
Molecular classification
Receptor, Scavenger receptor, C-type lectin-like receptor
01

Overview

Lectin-like oxidized LDL receptor-1 (LOX-1) is a type II integral membrane glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis by binding and internalizing oxidized LDL (oxLDL). It is involved in endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, and is expressed in endothelial cells, macrophages, platelets, and smooth muscle cells. LOX-1's expression is induced by various proatherogenic stimuli and inflammatory cytokines, and it may also interact with pathogens and be involved in cell adhesion processes[1][2][6][10].
