Lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 (LOX-1)

Target
LOX-1
Molecular classification
C-type lectin superfamily, Type II transmembrane glycoprotein, Receptor
01

Overview

Lectin-like oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 (LOX-1) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the C-type lectin superfamily. It functions as a receptor for oxidized low-density lipoproteins (oxLDL) and plays a crucial role in the development of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. LOX-1 is expressed in various cell types, including vascular endothelial cells, monocytes/macrophages, and smooth muscle cells. Beyond cardiovascular disease, LOX-1 is involved in immune responses and potentially cancer immunotherapy.
